The Level Up program hosts educational game design events throughout the year. Designers from the Game Insights team work together with some of the most successful developers from the Roblox community to produce content that levels up attendees' knowledge and skills regarding game design best practices.
These invite-only events are conducted live, with audience participation and Q&A sessions; afterward, recordings and associated materials are uploaded to the Developer Relations YouTube channel and Developer Forum so that the community at large can benefit from the knowledge shared.
Format
Live Level Up events take place throughout the year. The events may take one of two different forms: a developer co-hosted Roundtable session and a designer-led skills Workshop.
In addition to events, the Game Insights team produces short videos (Shorts) that provide foundational knowledge in an easy-to-consume format.
Roundtable Event
The Roundtable event pairs a Game Insights team game designer with a top developer who has demonstrated best-in-class execution of a game design best practice. This pairing allows attending developers to learn from, and be inspired by, some of the platform's most successful devs, while also providing the perspective of an experienced designer from the wider games industry.
Together, they conduct a roundtable interview to:
- Introduce attending developers to the event's topic.
- Discuss how the presenting top dev's game engages with the topic.
- Show the positive impact that implementing the best practice had on the game, its metrics, and its players.
- Answer questions from attendees.
